COMMITMENT ALERT: Ranvir Gill-Shane commits to the Ottawa 67’s

 

Ottawa, ON –  The Ottawa Jr. Senators are proud to announce that ’03 born D Ranvir Gill-Shane has signed a Standard Player Agreement to join his hometown Ottawa 67’s of the OHL (Ontario Hockey League).

 

Gill-Shane, 16, a product of Kanata, Ontario was selected by the 67’s in the fourth round, 83rd overall pick in this past April’s OHL priority selection out of the Ottawa Jr. Senators Midget AAA team.

In HEO Midget AAA, Gill-Shane piled 35 points (8G, 27A), to be the 11th highest selected Ottawa born player, as well as 5th highest Ottawa born defenceman taken.

“It’s an amazing feeling to officially be apart of my hometown team,” said Gill-Shane. “It’s such an amazing organization and I can’t wait to get started with the next part of my journey.”

In his rookie campaign, Gill-Shane ranks tied for fourth in rookie scoring with seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points through 30 games played this season.

Gill-Shane was also recently named the CCHL’s Rookie of the Month, with two goals and six assists in 11 games, leading all rookies in scoring, and fifth amongst all league defenceman. On top of that, Gill-Shane took home Hockey Hair Academic High School Player of the Month with a 89% average at the PEAK Performance Centre studying Chemistry, Biology, History, Fitness, and Hockey.

“We’re very happy for Ranvir,” said Head Coach Martin Dagenais. “He’s a hard-working kid who comes to the rink every day with the right attitude. I have no doubt that he will have success at the OHL level.”

Gill-Shane will be in the lineup for the 67’s on Saturday when the Barrie Colts come to town before he’ll return to the Jr. Senators on Sunday to face the Kanata Lasers.
